Matilda Bjärum

Matilda was born and raised in Skåne, Sweden. She holds a BA from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (UK) and an MA in Performance from London Contemporary Dance School (UK).

During her time with the Scottish Dance Theatre, she met choreographers such as Emanuel Gat, Janine Harrington, Colette Sadler and 7oito. Last fall she started to freelance with Skånes Dansteater, on the production Mozarts Requiem by Örjan Andersson and in the summer with Gwyn Emberton, Indigo Flamingo. Matilda has also worked with various project-based companies, such as Bobbi Lo Produktion, Alexandra Pirici, Ongoing Realities and Gabriella Engdahl.

In addition to her work as a dancer, she has also choreographed her own works and productions, with a particular interest in game structures and playfulness and how they can influence and inspire dance movements and creation. Matilda has also shared her knowledge as a guest teacher at schools and within the freelance scene.

She very much looks forward to her first research with Various Creations this Spring in Birmingham.
