Pere Jou

Pere Jou (Barcelona, 1985) is a creator, performer, and composer in the field of performing arts. The central focus of his artistic research is the human voice and its relationship with the body and movement. As a composer who works with the body, he perceives music not only as a sonic phenomenon that evokes emotion but also as a physical, visual, choreographic, scenographic, and dramaturgical experience. In recent years, his entire research has been channeled through the Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou project, a partnership formed with Aurora Bauzà

About the class

EMBODYING THE VOICE is a workshop that challenges the established norms regarding the use of voice and body, aiming to go beyond traditional concepts of composition and musical structure, as well as choreographic writing. Building on the concepts and techniques developed in our works on the relationship between voice and movement, we will focus on exploring new horizons in the interaction between choreography and musical composition. The workshop is designed for singers, performers, creators, and choreographers who wish to explore the connection between voice and body.
