Sarah Butler

Sarah is a freelance dance and theatre artist based in South Derbyshire.

Sarah works extensively with Autin Dance Theatre performing nationally and internationally in their outdoor works, Out of the Deep Blue and Brimstone as dancer/puppeteer, as well as rehearsal directing their new work, Parade-The Giant Wheel. She also performs in Soundcatchers with Jess Murray Dance and is choreographer/ movement director for Rebel Spark’s recent aerial theatre works; Take Flight and Lost Performers Club.

Career highlights include touring Tell Tale Hearts’ beautifully quirky dance theatre piece Yummm! Nationally and internationally, devising and performing in the outdoor works Gift by Beautiful Creatures and the wonderfully dark The Quiet by Glasshouse Dance and a national tour of the hilarious Blast from the Past with Spiltmilk Dance. Sarah has also performed nationally and internationally with Coreo Cymru/ Wales Millenium Centre, Rebel Sparks, Birmingham Opera Company and Katie Green.

Sarah is steering group coordinator/project manager for East Midlands Dance Artist Network (EMDAN). This year she has played a pivotal role in successfully securing Arts Council Funding to support EMDAN’s new mentoring programme, scratch night and in person activities/ artist support from 2024-2025. Since 2021 Sarah has been Engagement Artist for NDCWales. She has also lectured on the Undergrad and Post grad degrees at Derby University and University of Lincoln specialising in Physical Theatre, as well as leading classes for Tom Dale Company, Brum Pro Class and EMDAN Open Contemporary.
